To the River

Nana and Papa graciously invited Walker and Kathryn to the river this past weekend! Don't let the sunny skies in this first picture fool you. The weather was awful! So it was especially nice of them to offer to entertain the kiddos INSIDE for most of the weekend. You don't have to look too hard to see how much fun they had!

I love these next two pictures. While on a hike, Walker collected rocks, and I'll give you one guess what Kathryn rounded up...

If you guessed flowers, you would be correct!

So, what did Matt and I do while they were gone??? Absolutely NOTHING, and it was WONDERFUL! Well, we did eat out both nights, and finally got around to watching this wonderful movie. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a must add to your movie list.

Friday night we supported our local restaurants with gyros at Sam's Deli & Grill followed by ice cream at Edgewood Creamery. Saturday, we got all dressed up (well, as much as the pregnant lady can dress up) and enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Highlands Bar & Grill. I joked with our waiter that he probably thought we hadn't eaten in 3 days. Matt and I literally cleaned every single plate and probably went through 5 plates of bread! And let me tell you, every bite was delicious!

Thank you Nana and Papa for the wonderful weekend! The four of us enjoyed every minute of it!

Flower Child

I love this time of year! Hours spent outside--riding bikes, blowing bubbles, eating popsicles. And all the Spring flowers! It sure makes the long, rainy winter worth it!

And don't you just love my little flower child? Notice her necklace, bracelet and ring. This picture was from a couple of days ago. Yesterday, we even crafted some earrings and a watch from some flowers!

And let's not forget this guy! As soon as I pulled the camera out to take a picture of his sister, he wanted in on the action too!

A Birthday Party Mater Style

Yesterday, we celebrated Cousin D's 3rd birthday! The kids got a good workout and then enjoyed pizza and a very yummy Tow Mater ice cream cake!

Walker decided to pass on the pizza and hold out for cake!

Sliding...

Jumping...
Working out on the treadmills. I think I need two of these at my house!

The whole crew...

Needless to say, my two were ready for a nap when we got home! Now that's a great birthday party!

Life Imitating Art

Today, Walker and Kathryn had their Spring Concert and Art Show at school.

Here's Walker... And here's Walker....Can you tell the difference?

Kathryn...And Kathryn...It was really hard to imitate that nose:) But she gave it her best!

A hug (or is it an attack!)...

Easter Baskets and Monkeying Around

Early Easter morning (very early I might add, can you see how dark it still is outside the window), Walker and Kathryn found a trail of carrots leading right to their Easter baskets!

Walker handing his chocolate bunny to his sister after deciding (for some unknown reason) chocolate bunnies are for girls!

Checking out Walker's bunny loot!

The baskets before they were deconstructed!

After a wonderful church service, we ended the morning with some play time at the park before lunch.

Gotta Love the Peeps

Did I tell you that I love Easter??? Well, one of the things I love most is Peeps! So, when I saw this cute little recipe in the March/April Cooking with Paula Deen, I just couldn't pass it up!

I thought they would make a fun Easter surprise for the kiddos' classmates! Thus began our chocolate meringue bird nest adventure!

I have to say, it was definitely easier than the Easter treats I pulled off last year! Basically an easy meringue recipe and some Peeps (oh, and I thought a few robin's eggs tucked underneath would be appropriate!).

The sad news is my meringues ended up looking like cow patties instead of birds' nests. They were good cow patties nevertheless. Or at least Kathryn enjoyed them!

So, we improvised and simply used the chocolate covered chow mein noodles as our nests, tucked in a few eggs, and topped with a Peep (pink AND blue of course....heaven forbid the girls in the class receive a blue Peep as shown in the magazine!).

I have to say they weren't the prettiest things, but I think once they were all dolled up with stickers* and bows they made a really cute Easter goody!

*Love the stickers? I do too! Sugar and Spice Mommy, a very cute and creative mommy I might add, is sharing her adorable designs for free! You can read all about it here!

Blessings to all of you this Easter Weekend!

He is risen!
