Look What We Can Do?

SWIM!!!!

Thanks to Nana and Papa's neighbors, the kiddos were able to get a lot of swim practice in this Memorial Day weekend. They enjoyed every minute of it! And we did too 'cause swimmin' sure wears some kids out!
Oh, there was also time for riding on the Sea Doo and the pontoon boat!
Happy Memorial Day!

Daddy Did It Again!

Completed a triatholon relay, that is!

On Saturday, Matt, the kids and I hit the road for west Tennessee. This was our first trip there since we moved last summer, and actually we passed right by Memphis on our way north of town where the race actually took place. We didn't get to do any of the things we would have liked to do--visit/play with friends, go to our old church, or even eat BBQ! But we did enjoy a nice lunch at the park Saturday afternoon while Matt checked in and swam a practice lap of the swim course.

Can you tell it was hot? And can you tell someone was tired? Or at least tired of Mommy taking pictures:)

Bright and early Sunday morning, we headed back to the park for Daddy's big race. This was the best picture I could get of him before the race (he's the tall one:).

And here's what the kiddos and I did while Daddy swam and while we waited for his teammates to finish up...

Walker playing on my iphone...

Kathryn camped out on some other little boy's blanket watching a movie. This mom was so sweet to let me two watch a movie with her little boy. Unfortunately, her little boy was on the move as much as mine which left Kathryn watching the movie all by herself!

And here's the team (well, minus Walker)... There's no way, Walker could have participated in the race. He was too busy taking pictures with my camera. Note to self, don't let a 3 year old play with your camera unless you want random pictures like this one to show up! I couldn't resist sharing the bulging belly;)

And less than 24 hours later, we were back on the road to the 'Ham. Next year's race is in Tunica. I've already told Matt we are traveling sans the kiddos. And we'll be hitting the spa after the race! This weekend wore us out. But we were so proud of Matt and all of his hard work, it was worth every minute of it!
By the way, the guys came in fourth in the men's relay division. Matt was second in his race. He came in behind a 24 year old former US Olympian, so we think he did pretty well!!

15 Years and Counting

Most of you know Val, aka Roommate. This summer we will have known each other 15 years. We met for the first time at freshman orientation, and as they say, the rest is history! Three years of being roommates and many more years of being best friends later, and here we are both about to welcome our third little ones into the world!

We have always dreamed, hoped, talked about being pregnant together. Well, guess what...
it happened! And we finally managed to get a picture to prove it! I threatened to go to the hospital and climb up in the bed with her if we didn't get a picture before then:) Thankfully, we were able to take this one while at McDonald's yesterday for one last playdate with the kiddos.

Are we not a sight? We were even dressed alike;)

Val's big delivery date is this coming Tuesday! I can't wait to meet sweet baby Miles!

A Fun Family-Filled Week

We were blessed last week and this past weekend to have a house full of family! We pulled out the pack and play and set up the back room for this sweet girl and her mommy and daddy.

Kathryn was in heaven playing with Addison. She got lots of practice for her upcoming role as "big" sister.

We even managed to squeeze in the kiddos last day of school! We thought these Dollar Tree finds would make a fun summer gift for their friends. And I wish I had taken a picture of the beautiful pot of zinnias they gave their teacher, Ms. Nancy. She's a gardener and flower lover like Kathryn, so I couldn't resist sending her some blooms as a thank you for such a wonderful year!

Did I mention that Tula also came to visit! Like I said, we had a house full and enjoyed every minute of it! Pops made it into town on Friday afternoon, which added to the fun of having everyone together. The guys even managed to score a night out to see Robin Hood. Not quite sure how that happened... mommies staying home to watch the kiddos while the men went to the movies, but I think they enjoyed their "man" time nonetheless!

Saturday evening the family fun continued when we made our way over to the Dillons for playtime and dinner. Nana and Papa were in town babysitting, so we were thrilled to hand out with them and this happy little guy!

If we had only had the Smith's here, we would have seen the entire family in one weekend! Thankfully, they are headed south for the summer soon, and we can't wait!

Mommy's Favorite Things

1. My wonderful husband
2. My two beautiful children
3. Lots of family time
4. La Paz!!!

And the best thing about this past weekend is I got to enjoy ALL of these things! Here I am with the munchkins after a yummy Mother's Day lunch at La Paz.

And here they are enjoying our walk around the Botanical Gardens. This was our second visit of the weekend. The weather was gorgeous, the flowers were even more beautiful, and well, let's face it, a couple of walks around the gardens really wears our two out!

Did you know...

That according to Walker, I'm 10 years old, very tall and only weigh 25 lbs? This was his response on a little survey he brought home this week entitled "My Mom." He goes on to list my favorite store as Target, and my favorite restaurant as Chik Fil A. I get mad at him when he bumps into me (which is the truth...this kid loves to head butt!). And the thing he likes best about me is his toys!

Thankfully, Kathryn didn't divulge any of my secrets. She said she won't tell my age and doesn't know my height. When asked about my weight, she simply replied, "bigger." My favorite color are all the colors and my favorite food are all the foods (she got that one right!!!). I loved these two answers:

My mom is happiest when..."I do good things."

I know she loves me because..."I always to good things."

Thank goodness I've got at least one "perfect" child. At least according to her;)

**Pardon the quality of these pictures. They are pictures of the pictures the kiddos brought home this week, and they just cracked me and Matt up. Especially the one of Walker. Poor guy actually enjoys dressing up, and he's limited to his one Spiderman costume while his sister has the whole Disney princess cast to choose from. As if you can't tell, she's definitely in her element!

L.A. Revisited

Here are a few promised pictures from the Tew family get together...

Aunt Donna made the day by bringing an entire wardrobe of dress up clothes and make up for all the girls to play with. Here are Kathryn and Kelsey (my cousin Scott's daughter) modeling for the camera.

Needless to say, we've added a Minnie Mouse costume to our birthday wish list. And look at that eye shadow!

Kathryn, Walker and Jack hanging out on the swing once the crowd cleared out.

When I was growing up, we most certainly wouldn't have been playing dress up at family get togethers. There were only two girl cousins on my Dad's side of the family, so I was always surrounded by boys! Not the case with the great grandkids....Walker was dying for some boys to play with! Thankfully, Jack came with Uncle Bill and Gigi to keep him company!

Some of you may know that the name of my Dad's company is S J & L, but do you know where the name came from??? Here's a clue...

That's us, the company's namesakes--Scott, Jason and Lauren--the first three cousins on the Tew side. We haven't all been together in more years than I can count, so I was determined to get a picture.

It was a long fun filled day. The kiddos crashed as soon as we went upstairs. Even Sophie the cat needed a nap!
The next day was filled with even more fun! Pops took a running leap off the pier and the kids were quick to follow!
It wasn't very pretty out, but it was quite windy. Can you guess what Pops caught on his fishing line?A kite! I admit I would never have thought to connect a kite to a fishing pole, but according to Pops, that's the way they did it when he was growing up!

Later on that night, the kiddos enjoyed a late night snack--cookies and ice cream! A sweet end to a great weekend!

L.A.

Lower Alabama that is! The kiddos and I headed south this past weekend for the Tew family reunion. Stopping only briefly in Mobile on the way in and out of town, we stayed at Dauphin Island for this visit.

Just because we weren't "in town" didn't mean we couldn't find us some shopping. So say hello to Family Dollar and Dollar General. We stocked up on goodies for the kiddos--bubbles, balls, anything to keep them entertained for the weekend. We also found some clothes too! $1 flip flops for Walker and Kathryn and a cute t-shirt for Walker at only $3.50.

We couldn't leave the Family Dollar without letting the little ones ride the dirt bike. Walker really wanted to ride it, but he was ready to get off before the ride was even finished!

We ended our day of shopping with Redneck Nachos for lunch! They are delicious! Corn chips topped with BBQ pork, baked beans and cole slaw. They were so good, we went back for seconds at dinner time!

I'll be back with more pics from the family get together...
