Recipe Review and Some Silliness

I thought I would share one of my "new" recipes for the month of March. This one comes from the March 2011 Southern Living, and we found it quite yummy! Not to mention the ground turkey was on sale at the grocery. Score!

Southern Living

Ingredients

* 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
* 2 green onions, chopped
* 2 tablespoons white wine-and-herb chicken marinade
* 1 teaspoon garlic salt with parsley
* 1 teaspoon pepper
* 6 French hamburger buns, toasted
* Toppings: gourmet mixed lettuce leaves, sliced avocado, mayonnaise

Preparation

1. Gently combine first 5 ingredients. Shape mixture into 6 (4-inch) patties.

2. Heat a cast-iron grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook patties in pan 6 to 8 minutes on each side or until done. Serve burgers on buns with desired toppings.

Note: We tested with Publix French Hamburger Buns, McCormick California Style Garlic Salt with Parsley, and Lea & Perrins Marinade for Chicken.

Lauren's Note: I couldn't find the Lea & Perrins' brand marinade, so I bought the Archer Farms Chardonnay & Herb Marinade (I thought that sounded close enough). I did not use the avocado. I did stir up a garlic aioli (fancy word for garlic mayo) with a couple of garlic cloves, about 1/4 cup of mayo and several teaspoons of the marinade.

In other Busbee Buzz news, today was Silly Glasses Day at Walker and Kathryn's school. We "dolled" up some of Kathryn's glasses to make a butterfly! There ain't nothin' some pipe cleaners, pom poms and a hot glue gun can't fancy up!

Of course, next time I need to do a better job of picking up our craft supplies. I found this in Frances' mouth this morning. I wondered why she looked like a little chipmunk. Oh my, now that she's crawling, she's really keeping me on my toes!
