The Shirts

I'm glad so many of you liked Walker and Kathryn's shirts on the blog header. I guess I should do a little bit of explaining! Yes, we are expecting again! Walker and Kathryn will welcome their new sibling in July (or maybe June...our due date is July 3rd)!

I stitched these shirts for our ultrasound appointment a couple of weeks back. Matt and I decided to take the kiddos with us even though we weren't finding out the gender of the baby. So, of course, I had to make them a shirt for the "occasion." Fortunately, for me and Matt, Papa came in town and offered to babysit, so we were able to enjoy the ultrasound in peace and quiet!

Kathryn's shirt was a bit smaller than Walker's, so I opted to stitch "Big Sis" on hers. Plus we call her Sis and tend to call Walker Brother, so it worked! (Sorry, I don't have a close up of Walker's). I have to give a shout out to Sugar and Spice Mommy for encouraging me to attempt this hand embroidery. I made a shirt for Walker last summer, but hadn't made anything since. I was thrilled with how these turned out, and they saved me money too. I already had the shirts, I just had to be a couple of dollars worth of embroidery thread! I already have a couple of designs in mind for some onesies for baby!

Oh, and here are some picture outtakes that I thought you would enjoy!

Our Weekend in Pictures

We had a very fun weekend at the Busbee house. I probably think so because I had 6 wonderful hours out with the girls on Saturday night. I only wish I had pictures of Valerie, Jaime, Carrie and myself as we ventured back to our alma mater for Step Sing! It was truly a night to remember!! Lots of fun, food and fellowship. I smiled and laughed so much my face hurt when I got home! (P.S. If you live in the 'Ham and want some fabulous dessert, you MUST go to Jackson's in Homewood. That is if you think you would like fried cookie dough eggrolls or fried twinkies and ice cream! Yummy!)

On Friday, the kiddos and I met Daniel, Aunt Cori and Baby Beau at the park. It was a beautiful day, and we stayed for several hours soaking up all the pretty sunshine!

Saturday morning, the kiddos and I got out early for a morning of errands. I figured since Daddy would have them later that night, I would get them out for the first half of the day. We, of course, had to fuel up at Krispy Kreme! Then we hit Target, Sam's, and several more places.

Here are Kathryn and Walker enjoying their doughnuts!

Sunday was just as pretty and so warm. It was fabulous. After church, the kids played outside and enjoyed every minute of it! Thankfully so because the rain came later that afternoon! Even with the rain, this weekend gave us a wonderful taste of spring, and I loved it!!

Baby Tew Makes Three

Three for this happy little "Party of Tew," (aka Uncle Brad and Aunt Mak). And three grandbabies for Pops and Tula!

Addison Paige was born yesterday evening and weighed in at 7 lbs and 6.5 oz. As you can tell, she is absolutely beautiful!

Walker and Kathryn were all smiles this morning when I showed them her picture! It's only February, and they already have two new cousins. What a blessed new year for our family!

I can't wait to get my hands on this sweet little bundle!

A Special Valentine's

Here's Kathryn with her special Valentine's....

Can't see him? Well, here's a better picture!

He's short, round, white and cold and barely hanging on since the temps were in the 40's on Saturday! But he has some pretty "sweet" eyes. Can you tell what the are? M & M's!!! Matt came up with that yummy idea! Now, that's my kind of snowman!
Here's a few neighborhood shots from Friday's snow...

And here are Kathryn and Walker's Valentine's treats! The popcorn buckets, candy and workbooks came from the Dollar Tree. Wrapped up for the kiddos to open were some Amazon purchases. Love Splat, a Valentine's tale from one of our favorite cats! And the Polar Express CD. Walker LOVES the music on this movie. Sometimes we put the DVD in and never press play. We let the main menu play over and over just to hear the music. This however can get a bit annoying to Mommy, so I decided to opt for the CD. Needless to say, it was a hit!

Poor Walker. This isn't the greatest picture, but considering I have multiple pictures of KLB on this post, I decided I better include at least one of him! Don't you love that morning hair:) You can tell we had an early morning! Of course, every morning with Walker G. is an early morning!

Gearing Up for Valentine's Day

After naptime yesterday, we assembled Walker and Kathryn's Valentine's bags for their class party today! I thought we would have fun putting these together as they had been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks now. The fun quickly came to an end, however, when Kathryn realized that I wanted her to put her princess Valentine's cards in all the bags, even the bags for the boys in her class (heaven forbid). Needless to say, she completely lost it!

So, Walker and I proceeded to fill up the bags and assmble them for their classmates. He didn't have a problem sharing his Lightening McQueen cards:) Here he is with one of the goody bags...

Kathryn did have fun earlier in the day when we visited Fresh Market to pick this out for her teacher...

Thankfully, she was all smiles this morning as she got ready for school!

This Week's Wally World Finds

Today, we took our weekly pilgrimage to the local Wal Mart. Now that my kiddos refuse to sit in a buggy, this is truly an adventure. Although, after we've walked around the store once and sometimes twice, the kids are well worn out!

Plus we scored these great finds....

Boy's Cargo Shorts.....$3.50! There were food items in my buggy that cost more than $3.50. I'm just praying the 5T will fit Walker. They look big enough. I will be so sad the day these two outgrow Garanimals!

They also had some nice solid color polo shirts in the "bigger" boys section. The sizes start at XS (4-5) and go up. They were $6 each (I believe...maybe less but no more). They had a large variety of colors, but unfortunately I stocked up for Walker last year, and the only colors I really needed were not available in his size (namely an adorable coral color and a very guy-like turquoise blue--two of my favorite summer colors!).

On a sad note, their bigger boy solid t-shirts have a pocket on the front which interferes with monograms or appliques, but they are still great for everyday wear. The best I can remember (which is hard to do when I've got one eye on my kids and the other on the merchandise), the toddler t-shirts did not have a pocket! So buy up, girls!

For the girls, the Garanimals offerings were looking a little "hoochie mama" for me, but I did find this cute outfit for Kathryn in the bigger girls section. It's a size 6, so I think it must run a little small, or either the pants/shirt are supposed to fit shorter than they do on her.

This little outfit came in several cute colors: lavender, green and this fun coral. I thought for $6.00 this would be perfect for the Spring when it's too cool for shorts but too warm for winter clothes!

P.S. Forgive the awful quality of this picture. I had to grab it with my phone while I could. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a better one later! She also has all of her hair ribbons crammed into the two side pockets and appears to be sticking her belly out!

And here's Walker once we got home....See I told you a walk around Wally World will wear them out! You should take your little ones there and scout out your own summer finds. At these prices, they won't last forever!!

Rainy Day Project

Kathryn collected a bunch of sweet gum seed pods at the park last week, and I promised her we would turn them into a craft project. Well, maybe I should have done a bit of internet research instead of just relying on my own experiences. All I could remember to do with them is spray them with glue and sprinkle glitter on them!

Easy enough, but very Christmas-like. Especially since the glitter collection at the Dollar Store featured red, green and silver!!

(BTW, I get just about all of their craft supplies at the Dollar Store. It's great for construction paper, writing pads, pens, pencils, glue sticks, pipe cleaner, and as mentioned glitter! And at a dollar an item, we can get a lot for a little. They also have some pretty helpful workbooks and flashcards--numbers, letters, spelling, and even more advanced--featuring characters kids just can't resist. Which always makes learning a little more fun! If you haven't been in a while check out the school supply and the craft supply aisles.)

Here's the little princess at work!

And afterwards, enjoying the fruits of her labor!

On a side note, the growing out aspect of Kathryn's self-imposed "haircut" is a lot worse than the initial cutting. As you can see in these pictures, she appears to have hair growing in every direction! And the "bangs" are out of control:)

A Special Delivery

Pops had a meeting in Birmingham today, so he and Tula decided to surprise us with a special treat all the way from Mobile.

That's right...King Cake, in all it's yummy goodness! Complete with beads and the tiny little baby. The baby didn't make it into the cake. It went directly into the hands of Little Miss Kathryn, who personally makes herself responsible for all things "baby" in this house!

I took these pictures with my iphone, because you see it takes less time than with the camera, and the sooner I took the pictures the sooner I could eat the cake! And let me assure you it is delicious!! Want to try it for yourself? Well, just click here, and order you up one!

In other news, I took Goofy, Mickey and Minnie to the park today (i.e. Daniel, Walker and Kathryn). They have so much fun playing together, and if they aren't in these character roles, they are someone or something else. It's really quite amusing and oh so sweet to see these cousins playing so well together!

I hope your day was as beautiful and yummy as ours:)
