A Great Birthday!

We had so much fun celebrating Walker and Kathryn's special day yesterday. Here they are at 6:00 a.m. opening their presents!

Then it was off to Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts!

After Krispy Kreme, we headed to Target for some grocery shopping and to pick out some birthday cakes. Oh, and we had to get an icee too. That was on our list of things to do for their birthday!

We also picked up some dino shaped nuggets for their birthday lunch. I thought a candle and a round of happy birthday couldn't hurt! I'd already sung to them at Krispy Kreme, per their request. Let's just say between my singing and them telling EVERYBODY it was their birthday, the entire place was well informed that it was their special day!

Lunch was followed by a quick round of naps. I told them they didn't have to take one, but Kathryn fell asleep during the movie we'd settled down to watch, so I snuggled up in bed with Walker for a nap! After naps, it was off to the pool for a birthday swim!

Once Daddy got home last night, we celebrated with cake! Here's Walker's Diego Fiesta cake (as he liked to call it!)...

And here's Kathryn's Hello Kitty cake...

Since, we were just celebrating with the four of us, we didn't need a ton of cake. So, I bought these small cakes at Target for about $6 each and decorated them with a Diego candle from Party City and a marshmallow Hello Kitty from Walgreens! The kids didn't seem to mind and I thought the Target cakes matched the toppers quite nicely. Add some character plates and napkins, and the kiddos loved it!

Toy Story Birthday

Yesterday, we celebrated Walker and Kathryn's upcoming 4th birthday with all of the Busbee cousins. Here are four of the six (Walker was outside trying out his new scooter and Baby Beau was napping) with their party hats ready to get the party started!

And don't you just love how the alien cupcakes turned out! Thank you Aunt Amy for the great idea and for making them too. They were perfect (and yummy I might add)!

Here are the siblings...

And here are the cousins...

The best part, cupcake and ice cream time...

The best picture I could get of all the cousins.

Thank you Aunt Coco for opening your house for the whole family! Thank you Aunt Amy for the adorable cupcakes! Thank you Nana and Papa for all of the wonderful birthday presents! It was the perfect celebration!

The Spud

We finally made it to see the Mr. Potato Head exhibit at the McWane Center. The kids have been wanting to go for quite a while now, but quite honestly the "museum" (as the kids call it) kind of stresses this mommy out. There are always TONS of people, and my two tend to run in opposite directions. Not a good combination.

Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera, so this was the best shot I could get with my phone. I think they had Mr. Potato Head stationed in the darkest spot in the whole place;)

Here are Walker and Kathryn checking out some more of the exhibit.

The kids really enjoyed themselves. I have to admit the best part of the visit for Mommy was heading to Zoe's afterwards for lunch:)

Eight Years and Some Chocolate

Who knew this girl...And this guy...

Would end up here???

And eight years later, here?

The Lord did, and I am so glad He did! I feel so blessed to call Matt my husband. Each day with him is even better than the day before! It's hard to believe that eight years have come and gone. The Lord has truly been faithful to us, and I am most grateful (Lam. 3: 22-23)!

And for a little extra, I am making one of Matt's favorite chocolate recipes for our anniversary (and one of mine too because it's SOOO easy). If you've ever received dinner from me, chances are, you've received them too. They are so easy to make but I mainly keep going back to them because they are so delicious! I don't even know it can be called a recipe, but it is found in this cookbook by Paula Deen.

Symphony Brownies

One 17.5 ounce package brownie mix (with walnuts optional)
Three 6 ounce Symphony candy bars with almonds and toffee chips

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions.

Spray 9 x 13 inch pan with cooking spray. Spoon in half of the brownie batter and smooth with spatula. Place the candy bars side by side on top of the batter. Cover with the remaining batter.

Bake according to the package directions. Let cool completely.

Try to only eat one! I bet you can't do it!

Happy Father's Day!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish a Happy Father's Day to the very special fathers in our lives!
Papa

Pops

And last but especially not least...

Daddy
(aka Iron Man to Walker and Kathryn)
Matt is so good with the kids. I love to see them making special memories with him. Like playing at the park with Daddy...

And their current favorite, swimming in the pool with Daddy...

Matt even took the kiddos on a road trip to Camden earlier this year, so I could go visit Brad, Mak and Baby Addison.

It's truly a blessing to have these three wonderful men in our lives!

Birthday Sneak Peak

Here's a little "taste" of the kiddos upcoming birthday party...

We aren't having a "real" party this year, just a fun family get together with all the cousins on the Busbee side. Aunt Amy came across these cupcakes, and we thought the Toy Story theme would work great for the boys and the girls! Plus, in case you haven't noticed, Toy Story is EVERYWHERE. So I figured I might as well let the plethora of Toy Story goodies work to my advantage!

Toy Story 3 opens in theaters on Friday, June 18th! My two watched the trailer about a dozen times yesterday. I don't know what they'll do with a whole movie!

More from Etsy

Sure wish this little dress came in adult sizes! I love the seersucker fabric and REALLY love the ruffle collar!

And the shirt version is just as cute!

Two Weeks To Go

Until we close on our house, that is! I told you we have a lot of count downs going on around here! After almost a year in a rental house and with all of my furniture and "things" in storage, I cannot wait!

Just in case you're wondering, here are my favorite things about our new place...

1) The oak trees...there's one in the front and the back and I love them!

2) The master closet!!! I don't know what I'm going to fill it with, but I'm sure I'll have fun finding things!

3) Mommy's new office...this is a random room located between the dining room and the garage, but I think it will be the perfect place for some "me" time!

4) The master shower!

5) The mudroom (or that's what we call it) located between the kitchen and the garage. It's got cabinets and cubbies and will be perfect for "catching" all of our stuff!

6) The laundry room...it's located right off the master bathroom which I am very excited about. Love having the counter space too. We've never had that in a laundry room before!

Now, we just have to wait for baby to get here, so we can gear up for our move!

Just In Case (Part II) & Some Party Plannin'

Don't think we've completely ruled out adding a little guy to our mix! I bought this sweet day gown at a consignment store sometime last spring. I think the red, white and blue would be perfect for our little firecracker baby!

Oh, and just in case any of you have any party planning in your near future, I ran across these the other day and fell in love...
Fondant Cupcake Toppers from Etsy!
These would be perfect for a jungle or a zoo birthday party...

And how cute are these...

And what about these for a baby shower...

The best part is the price! Many of these start at less than a $1 each! Make your own cupcakes and add these cute toppings and you've saved yourself a lot of dough:) And you have a designer look to show for it!
