I thought they would make a fun Easter surprise for the kiddos' classmates! Thus began our chocolate meringue bird nest adventure!
I have to say, it was definitely easier than the Easter treats I pulled off last year! Basically an easy meringue recipe and some Peeps (oh, and I thought a few robin's eggs tucked underneath would be appropriate!).
The sad news is my meringues ended up looking like cow patties instead of birds' nests. They were good cow patties nevertheless. Or at least Kathryn enjoyed them!
So, we improvised and simply used the chocolate covered chow mein noodles as our nests, tucked in a few eggs, and topped with a Peep (pink AND blue of course....heaven forbid the girls in the class receive a blue Peep as shown in the magazine!).I have to say they weren't the prettiest things, but I think once they were all dolled up with stickers* and bows they made a really cute Easter goody!

*Love the stickers? I do too! Sugar and Spice Mommy, a very cute and creative mommy I might add, is sharing her adorable designs for free! You can read all about it here!Blessings to all of you this Easter Weekend!
He is risen!
Mark 16:6

Of course, this took a lot of patience on my part as they were constantly wanting to hold the cups filled with dye or stick their hands in the cups or hold the eggs. It was worth it to see the final results and most of all how happy they were with their eggs!

So one Princess and one Cars dying kit, a dozen hard boiled eggs, some water and some vinegar later and here's the final result!

Kathryn isn't much of a baby doll person. Don't get me wrong, much like me as a child, she loves her stuffed animals and any other random looking thing. I just mean she really has never carried a true baby doll around claiming to be its mother.
Addison was ready for some sleep, but my two weren't about to leave her alone. Here's Kathryn giving her kisses.
And the one thing they'd been waiting for all day long....a chance to hold the baby!
