This is an instance where the new Fast Pass system comes in very handy. We weren't even sure we would make it into the park on this day, so I had not booked any Fast Passes. We woke up that morning, the weather was nice and everyone was up for one last walk through the park. So, I logged into the My Disney Experience app and booked a Fast Pass to see Mickey at the Town Square Theater.
I'm so glad we did because this new improved Mickey TALKS!!! That's right he interacts verbally with the kids and it was such a treat! So glad we did not miss Mickey on this trip!
We were also glad we made it to the park this day to see Alice! Frances was beside herself!
Trip review:
1) We may never go to Disney in October again. The kids had a teacher work day which helped with the "missing school" part of our plans, but it seemed like LOTS of other people had holidays that month too. Plus it was HOT! Hats off to those who brave Disney in the summer time. Mostly because it's hard to carry around enough water/drinks to keep five people hydrated. Not to mention the fact that I can.not.stand. the Orlando water. So simply refilling at a water fountain isn't an option!
There's also the chance that we are just very high maintenance Disney guests;) Or we've just had it too good during our December visits as far as perfect weather and short lines!
2) We weren't big fans of the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Maybe it's because we are not really Halloween people, I'm not sure. We just know we won't be experiencing that again. Don't think I don't have a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in my sights though!
3) As for meal plans, we used the plain Disney Dining Plan: one quick service, one table service and one snack. This didn't seem like a ton of food last trip, so we planned better by bringing more snacks and more filling options for breakfast. It seemed like just the right amount this trip! Plus the fact, that at three years old, Frances had her own meal plan which we didn't have last year.
4) We were very happy to stay at the Contemporary. We even opted to stay in the Garden Wing to save some money. We were very pleased with this options. The rooms are exactly the same as in the main building, and other than the extra walking to fill mugs and ride the monorail, we actually liked the Garden Wing for how quiet it was and its proximity to our car! We didn't even make it to the pool this trip, but the Garden Wing is also easier access to the pool!
As mentioned before, we love the Contemporary mostly for its proximity to the Magic Kingdom. It doesn't score high in the Disney theming category but we like the sleek, new rooms none the less!
Well, that's it for Disney World 2013! See ya' real soon!
