Ole Man River and Fish Sticks

Perhaps not the most exciting pictures, but supposedly the Mississippi River is at one of its all time highest levels, which was proven by all of the people out on the river yesterday taking pictures just like these! Of course, our pictures are best because my hubby took them!! He also wowed me and the children with his unbelievable knowledge of Memphis history and trivia. For example, did you know the bridge featured in the first picture was supposed to be constructed like a wave instead of an "M." A joint venture between Memphis and Arkansas, Arkansas didn't pay its portion, so the remainder of the wave was never completed. Like I said, "WOW!" I include these pictures because they also provide a very valid excuse for the absence of Field Trip Friday for the third week in a row. It has rained and rained and rained!! Fortunately for us, the sun was out Sunday and we had a wonderful time driving around downtown and playing outside!

Now for the fish sticks portion of this post...What kind of mother would I be if I did not make a big deal out of Walker and Kathryn's first fish sticks!! Yes, fish sticks...probably not that big of a deal, but aren't fish sticks a staple for all preschoolers. I felt they had reached some sort of mile stone. It should also be noted that Walker is 3/4 vegetarian (In all honesty, he does eat Tyson chicken fingers and the occasional chicken casserole but no lunch meat, breakfast meat or even hot dogs for WGB!), so the fact that he ate 3 fish sticks is a big deal. Here's the picture to prove it....
